Well its inevitable really, that on a website targeted at cool, unusual , interesting websites,
that you would find a website that didn’t appeal to you.
I think I found that website,
hairmixer
Don’t like the hair on your head? get someone elses. This interesting website swaps the hair on your head, and the hair of a famous celebrity.
and here is the surprising part. everyone will enjoy it. Trust me.
So, it’s time for another website, and I have one especially for the North Americans.
In this day and age of instant access, email, and sms, phones, and video chat.
I seem to find that the only letters that frequent my “real-life” mailbox, are Bills & junk mail. To recieve a letter from someone means alot. because they have taken the time out to write that out, and put it in an envelope and go down the street and mail it.
Well Not anymore! these two websites put you one step closer to a world devoid of person to person communication and still show you care.

http://www.esnailer.com/ send free postal mail letters (to anywhere in the US) right from the desktop.

From Canada? Check out http://www.easypost.ca/
So i’m in the kitchen making mac and cheese, and can’t for the life of me find a wooden spoon. There are about 100 different utensils in this drawer.
didn’t find the spoon, but I did find this…

What is it!???
It is the Strong arm of the kitchen.
The Trebler Screwtop Jar and Bottle opener.
I was so impressed with the design, I opened three different things just to see if it worked.   Â
Your not going to find this item in stores though. But I found something similar, at amazon. Now they just need to change the name.

The Modern Day Strong Arm of the Kitchen |
Heres something new to ask for when you go to the coffee shop.
but make sure you know what it is before you ask for it. Because
unless you live in Vancouver BC, then its likely your barista will look at you sideways. Wikipedia says it originated at a student coffeehouse named Island Coffeehouse in Langley.
RECIPE
how to make
Step 1: Brew a small amount of Earl Grey tea. (Add about 1/2 cup of boiling water to your mug with the tea bag in it.) You are making Earl Grey tea concentrate. Let steep for 2-4 minutes to achieve optimum flavour.
Step 2: Heat up Milk. Preferably you have access to a steamer, or you might be able to ask your local barista for help.
Step 3: Add the vanilla syrup. (adjust according to taste)
(though i’ve been told you can swap step 2 and 3 around if you want.)

I don’t know if you have ever wondered, But I certainly have.
But thanks to Dr Thomas Perls MD, MPH, FACP, there is an online calculator.
Based on latest scientific research, the calculator asks you a series of around
40 questions relating to your health, and family.
I made 85 years old. which is what I always wanted.
Now, if the results only came with a guarantee…
It happens to me all the time, It doesn’t matter where I am, or what I’m doing.
one minute silence, the next, I’m humming the tune to some song. 70% of the time I’ll know the song, and providing there is no one around to hear me, I’ll break out in to song.
But here’s the problem.
its the 30%Â
its the songs I don’t know, and I really want to know, so I’ll try to remember some words, anything really and go to google, and type them and the word lyrics after.
but often, even that fails us, and we are forced to ask friends and family if they know the tune.
Well now the internet will fail us no longer, thanks to midomi website,
still in Beta stage, the site allows users to grab a hold of their microphones in the privacy of their own homes, and hum the song to the internet.
once uploaded, the site goes through all possibilities, transposistions etc etc, and comes back with a shortlist of answers.Â
here’s the website.
and sesame street can tell you all about it.

I’m having trouble embedding videos into the page. but its worth a visit.
This is a great piece of work.
basically, the main idea is similar to Pandora’s (find out the music that you might like based on what you already like),
Last.fm wraps this into a cool social aspect. It is based on a little cool app, the “Audioscrobbler” which sends information about the songs you’re listening in your player to Last.fm. This enables them to provide excellent statistics, like “The most popular Offspring’s song is Self Esteem” or “People who listen to Molotov also listen to Control Machete or Cafe Tacuba”. Now, this is really useful info since it is based on real user stats and it is just plain cool and it also really works - I discovered a few new excellent bands and found some fantastic songs of artists I already know, all in just couple of hours.
so its available in a flash based player on their site, or you can download the full fledged program for your computer.

In this day and age, I find that one thing has definitely changed, when I was a kid, everyone read books, heck, you couldn’t get me to go outside and play, nose stuck firmly between the pages of a novel.
I remember my mother would put a blanket outside and tell me I wasn’t allowed to come inside till I finished X number of chapters.
blame the internet, blame television. it doesn’t matter whose fault it is,
because, the guys at bookmooch.com have come up with a way for you to get that book you want and you don’t even have to pay for it.
its an online book exchange program, where by listing books, and sending them you obtain points which can be spent on books from all around the world.
just list 10 books you don’t want, and you have enough points to get a book sent to you. sending one of them earns you another book.
and with an incredible range of books and thousands of users,
I doubt theres a book you want that you can’t get there.

FreeRice.com
Freerice began 7th October last year. Basically its a website that encourages users to improve their lexicon, while helping others,
presented with a word, you are given 4 choices, only one of these choices is the correct answer, eg
AMBULATE=
walk
socialize
indifferent
legislate
if you guess the right answer (walk) free rice donates 20 grains of rice.
all credit goes to this John Breen guy though,
he sat and entered in 10,000 definitions after observing his Son studying for the SAT
So far, $250,000 dollars has been given to the World Food ProgrammeÂ
i’d say about a 1000 grains of rice would make a meal.
why not set time aside in your day to give someone
some food, and learn new words while your at it.
